Notes of Light

Terms of Participation and Purchase

Effective date: July 20, 2027

Notes of Light is a faith-based correspondence program offered by Semper ad Lucem. By purchasing or participating in a Notes of Light package, you agree to the following terms.

1. Adults Only

Notes of Light is intended exclusively for adults. Purchasers and participating recipients must be at least 18 years old.

2. Nature of the Program

Notes of Light provides mailed faith-based reflections, encouragement, and related materials. It is not personal counseling, psychotherapy, medical or legal advice, crisis intervention, or formal spiritual direction.

If you or a recipient is experiencing an emergency or crisis, contact an appropriate emergency service or qualified professional.

3. Founding Package Term

Each Founding Package covers one three-month correspondence period and includes only the items described for the package selected at checkout.

Founding Packages are one-time purchases. They do not renew automatically. Near the end of the term, participants may be invited to purchase a separate continuing membership.

4. Payment and Refunds

Payment is collected when the order is placed.

Because materials, books, and mailing preparations may be reserved or prepared shortly after enrollment, Founding Package purchases are non-refundable, except:

  • when required by law;
  • in the event of a duplicate or incorrect charge; or
  • when Semper ad Lucem is unable to fulfill the purchased package.

If a promised mailing is materially delayed, the purchaser will be notified and may be offered the choice of accepting the delay or receiving an appropriate refund for the unfulfilled portion. Federal rules generally require this choice when merchandise cannot be shipped within the promised period. FTC shipping guidance

5. Mailing Information

The purchaser is responsible for providing a complete and accurate recipient name and mailing address. Please notify Notes of Light promptly of any changes.

Semper ad Lucem is not responsible for mail that is delayed, lost, returned, rejected, or undeliverable because of:

  • incorrect or outdated information;
  • postal-service disruptions;
  • a recipient's relocation or discharge; or
  • rules imposed by a correctional, health-care, residential, or other institution.

When practical, Semper ad Lucem will make a reasonable effort to correct a delivery problem.

6. Institutional Recipients

Correctional institutions, nursing homes, hospitals, and other facilities may inspect, copy, alter, delay, reject, or prohibit particular mail or enclosed materials. Notes of Light cannot guarantee that any institution will accept or deliver a mailing.

If an insert or book is prohibited, Semper ad Lucem may substitute an appropriate permitted item when reasonably possible.

The purchaser is responsible for confirming the recipient's mailing address, identification number, facility requirements, and eligibility to receive the selected materials.

7. Gift Participation

Anyone purchasing Notes of Light for another person should have a reasonable basis for believing that the adult recipient would welcome faith-based correspondence.

Providing an address does not guarantee that a recipient or institution will accept the mail.

8. Letters from Participants

Participants may write back unless prohibited by their facility. Receipt of a letter does not guarantee an individual response.

Individually composed correspondence is included only when expressly stated in the selected package. Notes of Light may decline to respond to threatening, abusive, sexually explicit, unlawful, or otherwise inappropriate communications.

9. Privacy and Correspondence

Personal information will be used to administer the program, process orders, prepare mailings, maintain correspondence records, and communicate about participation.

Participants should not send highly sensitive information, original documents, financial information, passwords, or anything that cannot be replaced. Confidentiality comparable to that of a counselor, attorney, physician, or clergy relationship is not promised.

A separate Privacy Notice covers Stripe payment processing and basic information practices.

10. Books, Inserts, and Substitutions

Book titles, prayer cards, Scripture selections, and other inserts may vary according to availability, recipient preferences, institutional restrictions, and previous selections.

When necessary, Semper ad Lucem may substitute an item of reasonably comparable character or value. Specific titles are guaranteed only when expressly identified at checkout.

11. Personal Use

Letters and program materials are provided for the recipient's personal, noncommercial use. They may not be republished, sold, or distributed publicly without written permission from Semper ad Lucem.

12. Program Changes

Semper ad Lucem may make reasonable changes to future program offerings, prices, schedules, or included materials. Changes will not materially reduce a package that has already been purchased without an appropriate substitution, credit, or refund for the affected portion.
